The parable of the sower is one of the popular parable of our Lord Jesus Christ as documented by the synoptic writers. As dictated by the text, Mark 4:13-20, the focus of the sermon shall be on the interpretation of the parable.

It is with this introduction I humbly welcome you to this episode of my weekly sermon on Celestial Church Blog. The topic for the sermon is "The Word, the Hearer".

There are two major factors to a word ministration, be it scriptural or educational teachings in schools. The quality of the word (message) as mostly been determined by the teacher and the "state of mind" of the students or audience. If these factors are good and valid, the teaching tends to be meaningful and glorious.

Judging with the record of the bible concerning the text, the message was good but there were issues with most of the hearers of the word. Remember the two factors mentioned above must be good together for a glorious manifestation of the word.

As interpreted and documented, there were factors that made the quality message worthless in the lives of most of the hearers (parable of the sower). A major unfortunate thing among christians of our generation is that we fail to learn lessons from the teachings and mistakes of characters in the bible.

Below are some of the lessons from the interpreted parable of the sower.

1. The quality of a message is determined by the teacher.

2. A quality message must have a good topic.

3. The message (word) and the hearer must be good together for good testimony of the message.

4. Satan is the main character(cast) that distracts people from listening well to the word of God. Mark 4: 15.

5. Satan afflicts people with troubles and challenges to choke the word of God in them.

6. Most hearers of the word tends to the world than to God. Things of the world get them easily distracted.

7. For the word of God to be meaningful and bear much fruits, the hearer must be rooted in God. He/she must not be a mere church goer but a christain that understand Jesus Christ and the entire bible. Pro. 30:5 ;Isa. 40:8; Heb. 4:12; 1Peter 1: 23; Rev. 19 :13; Luke 18: 11.

Shalom!
