However in Celestial Church there are arguments for and against the keeping of dreadlock, but Leader Aduragbemi Oluwatosin observed that certain practices relating to dreadlocks are not to be practiced by celestians, because they originate from worshippers of African Traditional Religion.
He disclosed that “the practice of knotting cowries with Dada hair (natural lock hair) is common among believers of small god/goddess like Osun, Yemoja, Erinle etc. It is noted that the male sango worshipers do braid their hair as part of their religion rite coupled with ear piercing.” Aduragbemi revealed this in an article on dreadlocks In celestial church.
He therefore declared that knotting of small crosses on dreadlocked hair as satanic. “It is Satanic practice seeing children with natural lock hair(dada) knotting their hair randomly with small cross. Because this act is borrowed from occult society and substitute cowry with cross.” Aduragbemi wrote.
In the article he pointed out that small cross are meant to be sanctified and tied to the neck of children for protection, as they are not meant to be tied on dreadlocked hair. He explained that “all neck cross must have contact with the flesh. That is, the cross must tough the body without any restriction of clothes. Olujo Mimo (Jehovah God) ordained sanctified small cross on the neck of our children for spiritual protection. The cross is not met for the hair but the neck.”
