Anointment in Celestial Church is done in order to commission members to positions where they can perform certain functions in the church. It is known that anointments are paid by members who paid between the range of ₦5000 to as much as ₦50,000 for positions they desire or are qualified for as the case may be.

However, a member of the church, Joseph Oladokun has questioned the morality in requesting members to pay for anointment. Oladokun made this known while replying a Facebook post on the need for celestians to focus on God rather than the legality of who is the true spiritual head of the church.

He declared that funds gotten from anointment is the reason why the claimants of the pastoral seat keep increasing. He wrote “the reason why there are so many pastors today can be attributed to those kind of money making ventures. There are several of those channels in the church, which i think its not right.”

Oladokun also linked the payments of anointment as a form of paying for the power of the Holy Spirit as witnessed in the book of Acts of Apostles Chapter 8, where Peter condemned Simeon for attempting to buy the power of the Holy Spirit.
