The delay in the payment of covid19 cash palliatives to church workers is as a result of the failure of the Finance and Treasury office to furnish Reverend EMF Oshoffa the exact numbers of parishes who are consistent in the payment of returns to the church.

In April, Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa wrote to all clergies expressing concerns about their plight as a result of the closure of churches, thus telling them to forward their details for payment of cash palliatives, but members had feared that the payments would no more come to light.

However, in a letter signed by Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist Stephen Adeniyi and addressed to all Provincial Heads, Area Coordinators and General Superintendents of the Church affiliated to Ketu, it was made known that the delay in compiling the list of parishes that are consistent with the payment of returns (ipin) had been the reason behind the delay in the payment of the cash palliatives to church workers.

“The major criterion for the palliative is consistency in the payment of returns, hence His Eminence on May 5, requested the data of Parishes that are consistent in payment of returns from the Finance/treasury office.

“However, the data needed to effect payment is yet to be received by His Eminence from the Finance/Treasury office, hopefully, this data will come in any moment from now as a reminder for the release of the data has been sent accordingly on July 14th,” Adeniyi revealed in the letter.

With this pronouncement, the hope of all the numerous numbers of church workers may be dashed, as the data being collated will reveal those whom Ketu recognises as its true parishes as well as Church workers.
