Senior Evangelist S.O Odeyemi
"The love of money scattered Celestial Church of Christ. The love of money adversely affected the concentration of the Holy Spirit in the Church," says Senior Evangelist S.O Odeyemi.

The General Coordinator of Youths in the Church made this known in his book titled The Covenant of Christ With Celestial Church of Christ.

In the twelve chapter book, Evangelist S.O Odeyemi revealed a lot of events which led to the division in the Church and what can be down to savage ths situation.

The former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Lagos wrote in the book that "there were small undercurrent discontent about the small money the Church was making then."

He stated that the founder of the Church, Rev. SBJ Oshoffa resolved the matter by explaining that all "the money made by the Church belonged to God and not to any man."

He added that financial discontent resurfaced after the death of the founder, but Rev. Bada introduced some reforms, but they did not see the light of the day.

Furthermore, after the death of Rev. Bada and Rev. Ajose a meeting was held, which Rev. Jesse chaired. At the meeting were the Board of Trustees, except Rev. Owodunni. Also present at the meeting were Baba Odeyemi, some women and some younger members of the Church.

At the beginning of this meeting, Senior Evangelist Odeyemi said "It would be better to hold this important meeting at Imeko where we would experience less interference. And we would achieve better results if we hold seven days fasting and prayers before we start the real meeting."

But sadly, he was shouted down by those present at the meeting claiming Senior Evangelist Odeyemi's suggestion was academic.

The following were the account of what happened at the meeting as stated by the founder of the youth organisation in the church:

"The meeting started and I soon realised that the Clergy had prepared their programme and the Laity had their own different programme.

"On the one hand, the Laity presented a system whereby the Church money would be managed by the Laity and the Clergy would be put on a salary system.

"On the other hand, the Clergy rejected a system of monkey dey work and baboon dey chop. They argued that Papa Oshoffa's financial system was operated by Baba and the same regime should continue.

"After about two hours exchanged of heated debate, the meeting broke up without any fruitful result. That day marked the division of the Church into two groups. It was a case of to your tents oh Israel!.

"Two groups emerged; Nigeria Diocese and the truth camp."
