Halleluyah,

I warmly welcome you to this week's edition of the sermon, I pray that his mercy shall locate you in Jesus name. (amen)

Today's Topic: What A Response
Bible Lesson: Mark 7: 24-30
Memory Verse: Mark 7:29

And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Wow! What a response from the Greek woman. Jesus Christ had encounter with many people of different tribes and characters during his short time on earth, some are of great faith, while some are without or lesser faith.

But in this woman's case, it is not a matter of faith but a matter of good presentation. There are many men and woman out there with great faith, yet they would not receive from God.

There are many good and loyal servants/maids/followers whom may not be enjoying benefits from their bosses, masters, leaders because when they need to ask or seek assistance, their presentation would let them down and the rejection they get could be disappointing to them.

Let us consider 3 things about this Greek woman:

1. She is not a Jew (Jesus primary mission was to set free the Jews)
2. She came to Jesus with a well arranged supplication
3. She responded politely to Christ trial.

Now lets pick/study them one after the other.

1. (She is not a Jew) Do you know that you can receive favour from God regardless of your tribe, race, background, qualification, status etc.

Read about Jeroboam who was not from a royal family but became King over Israel. 1 kings 11: 28, 12:20.

2. (Her Supplications were well arranged) My dear reader, do you know that many prayer are not answered by God because they were wrongly presented.

Jesus advised his followers not to pray like the hypocrites. (Matthew 6:7) You can learn how to present your case before God like Hannah at Shiloh ( 1 Samuel 1:10-11) and Jabez.

Indeed, you must package your request very well before you can obtain any favour from your superiors (bosses, parents etc) and more importantly when asking from the Lord through prayer.

3. (She responded politely to Christ trial) It is very important that we discuss this point. Christ could have performed the miracle without necessarily putting a trial before her, but he decided to do so.

My dear, writing a project is important, so also defending the project is more important, but most importantly in a polite manner.

Read about Hannah's polite response to Eli the priest. (1 Samuel 1:12-17) Also about the Greek woman in Mark 7:28-27.

A Yoruba adage says "Oro pelu ni nyo obi l'apo" meaning with calmness you will receive.

So my dear reader, be very composed with your prayer and supplication when making request be it unto God or whoever you are looking up to for favour.

Secondly, be calm on how you react to disappointment and rejection, because it might just be a mere test.

The Chorus of CCC Hymn 878.

Until we meet again next week. Stay Blessed. Evangelist Oloyede Raphael
