Halleluyah,

Thank you for visiting this page to read today's Sermon for Wednesday Mid-Week Service. I pray that God's mercy and favour shall continue with us all in Jesus name. You are welcome.

Today's Topic: Test of Faith
Text: 2 Timothy 4: 6-18
Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 4: 9-10

Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

My dear reader, in today's text, Apostle Paul mentioned many names and has one thing or the other to say about them.

Let's look at two of these names:
a. Demas (2 Timothy 4: 10)
b. Alexandra the Coppersmith (2 Timothy 4:14)

A. Demas, was a follower of Paul the apostle, who was doing well before he backslided (Collosians 4:14, Philemon 1:24)

But during Paul's imprisonment, in Romans, he dumped Paul and returned to his homeland and conformed with the world.

B. Alexandra the coppersmith, the fifth and last Alexandra named in the Bible.

In just one word, Paul addressed him as an evil man and the Lord paid him back in his coins.

Demas, was once a good follower who had accompanied Paul to various places but during Paul's trial in Roman, he left him and went back to Thessalonian his home.

I know that many of us are good followers of the Christian faith, probably you have endured a lot of persecution, trial, lack, hatred or whatsoever, I am appealing to you as a man of God, just like Apsotle Paul to Timothy, perserve and continue with the good Lord. CCC Hymn 429(3). Also read Isaiah 40:28-31

Alexandra, the Coppersmith's case was even better because, the Bible did not decribe him as a good man at any time, but for Demas, it was unfortunate because it disastrous for any Christian to fall apart on the journey to eternal life.

Finally my Brother and Sister, no excuse or reason would justify any form of backsliding. Read Romans 8:35-39.

You have to endure to the end no matter the situation, avoid evil act and evil doers.

Until we meet again next week, stay blessed. Evang. Oloyede Raphael
