As at the last count, there are more than 15 claimants to the pastoral seat of the church. Everyone of them are certain that the 'Holy Spirit' led them to claim the revered position of the spiritual head of the church. How true is this claim? This is definitely a story for another day.

This post looks at the unification statements of the 3 most popular pastors in our church in the year 2017 and if the statements are been matched with action for the real intention of unifying the church or they are mere rhetorics.

Without doubt the trio of Reverend Beni Omoge, Reverend Bennet Adeogun and Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa are the pastors with the largest number of followers in the church.

While Omoge is the successor of Reverend Paul Maforikan and he is the leader of the Nigerian Diocese with a firm support base in Osun State, Ondo State, Ekiti State and the South South region. Mobiyina is the son of the founding pastor of the church. He controls the core structure of the church which are in Ketu, Makoko and Imeko. This makes him the most accepted claimant to the pastoral seat among Celestians.

Adeogun undoubtedly do not compete with Omoge and Oshoffa for the Nigerian region. He is the leader of the church, where the church was birthed, the Benin Republic. He has little or no opposition to his claim in the West African country. He has a firm hold in most french speaking countries where the church has a presence.

In the year 2017, these 3 respected Reverends made pronouncements which gave hope to the church becoming one.

First among them is Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa. He made his unification statement while delivering his sermon at the Sunday Service held at the Agange Convention in Benin Republic. Oshoffa prayed for the unification of the church, saying " God please unite your church."

In a recent press conference, Omoge on his part, said one of his aim is to unite the church so that there will be no more disparity.

In a meeting with the youth of the Church in Benin Republic, Adeogun said "Unity will be done, whether we like it or not. The destiny of the Church is to be one and indivisible and that it will be."

In this light, these statements about the church getting unified with mere words of mouths will not unify the church, if appropriate steps are not taken by our fathers to walk the talk, by putting up machineries that will ensure that they meet with each other in working on possible solutions that will truly unify the church.

Celestians can't wait for the church to become one. We are all tired of the division in our midst. We need to have one shepherd that will lead this Godly fold. The time is now for our fathers to take the bull by the horns and ensure that an effective unification strategy begin now.
