This may be the reason Ketu made Baba Kuti the Shepherd of the Basilica

As congratulations messages pour in for Venerable Superior Evangelist J.S Kuti on his appointment as the Shepherd in charge of the Church's basilica at Imeko in Ogun State, a reason has been given as reason the decision was made.

While there is no doubt that some members have questioned the rationale behind the appointment, they raised questions regarding the convenience of the appointment for the appointee and many other reasons.

A member Olayinka Daniel asked, "so baba Kuti will be going from Ikorodu to Imeko every day or he will oversee the activities from Ikorodu," he asked.

Furthermore, he raised the issue regarding the preference members have for the mercy land at Imeko to the basilica. He probed further by saying, "am yet to see the purpose of having a shepherd at the basilica, we don't need any shepherd at the basilica, pastor and all his subordinates should be presiding at the basilica. How many members on ground that would be worshipping there, and those that travel to Imeko for special prayer will prefer to pray at the mercyland, not inside the basilica. . . . . having a shepherd there should not be our priority but developing the area totally."

However, another member Oluwasogo Omorinde described the appointment as a welcome idea but recommended that the basilica should not be closed for most of the year as regular services should be held at the edifice.

"l think it is a welcome idea. The cathedral should not be closed for 365 days in a year. At least services can be carried out there regularly. With time, CCC authority should organise church programmes that will mandate and encourage parishioners to converge in lmeko at least monthly. The church building was not built to be used only once in a year", Omorinde advised.

Although, there hasn't been any official letter by the faction of Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa as regards the appointment, Akin Adeniji Apata who seems to have a piece of background knowledge regarding the appointment wrote on Facebook that, "it's a ceremonial shepherd for ceremonial services only," saying further that "the basilica do not open every service day except there is a special service for a special program. It's biblical that each Temple must have its priest."
