Prophet Gabriel Evans

As Nigeria prepares for general elections next year, clergies of the Church have been implored to avoid political discussions while preaching during sermons.

This appeal was made in response to a video of a sermon made by Prophet Gabriel Evans praising the political prowess of Presidential Aspirant Bola Ahmed Tinubu and how he is being betrayed by his political associates in his bid to become the president of the Country.

While reacting to the video, Oluwafumila Obadara pleaded with the elders of the Church to avoid getting the Church involved in all shades of politics. He wrote, "Please all ccc elders should stop all this politicizing the folds..."

One of Prophet Evans' enthusiastic followers Stella Oluremi Obende JP, advised him to desist from speaking about politics but should focus on preaching about Christ.

"I beg sir, preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and leave politics alone. I am one of your ardent followers and respect you so much but this is not it sir," she wrote in a Facebook post.

Another member of the Church, Oluwaseye Adebayo argued preaching in favour of Tinubu will stain the good name of the Church. Clergy in the Church, Abiodun Oladipupo wrote that, "It is well, Do not forget political matters should not be discussed on the pulpit.

In support of Abiodun Oladipupo, Ebun Babatunde opined that "Celestial pulpit shouldn't be turn to a campaign stage. Please let it remain for the sole purpose."
