Rev. E.M.F Oshoffa and Demola Bolaji |
The disagreement over the statement made by Brother Demola Bolaji, the leader of Greater Tomorrow Group has caused doubts in the minds of many members of the Church, especially clergies and parents.
Celestial Church is a Church where the majority hold on to doctrines thus parents whose children are preparing for activities during Juvenile harvest are worried about the spiritual implication of Brother Demola Bolaji's statement.
Brother Demola popularly called 'Baba' by members of his group has made a statement in a short video circulating on various social media platforms claiming that as this year's Juvenile Harvest coincides with the Pentecost Sunday, Children are not to partake in the conducting service and delivering the sermon, as it is the duties of the clergies rather than the children.
But Baba's statement got an instant reaction from the Pastor-in-Council, led by Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa claiming the ultimate authority to make proclamation regarding the Church's doctrines, tenets and liturgy is the spiritual head of the Church.
However, some parents and clergies are already worried, as to whose directives should they follow.
Sunday Olarewaju, a parent said his son has been practicing how to conduct service seamlessly only to receive two opposing ideas regarding the issue.
"I am worried about the turn of events, as my son has been practicing day and night on how to conduct a perfect Juvenile Sunday Service, only to watch Alagba Demola's video and read Ketu's comments also.
"Who are we to follow now. I am worried about the spiritual implication of this untidiness on our Children, more especially my son."
A Shepherd who pleaded anonymity said, "I am surprised at the way things are. Children are rehearsing already how would it be to make decisions in the middle of nowhere. We need to be careful, else we will be mocked by members as people who know what we are doing."
Folakemi Ogungbayi argued that she may just have to tell her son not to deliver the sermon during the Juvenile Harvest again. "I don't want any problem for my son, hence I will tell him not to deliver sermon again. Though he will be angry, but I will have to save him from any negative spiritual issues that may want to befall him.
