Brother Adesusi Ayoola looks at the impacts of Nigerian economic crisis on the Church.

The Nigerian nation which houses the highest number of Celestians is currently battling economy recession, as the nation's authorities are working tirelessly on various economic policies in a bid to safe the largest economy in Africa from going down, yet these policies seems not to stimulate the economy as Nigerians would want.

As it is, cost of living has significantly become high, while the standard of living is get lower by the day. Therefore, here are the 4 possible ways this crisis would affect the Church.

1. Financial Instability: This critical financial breakdown can affect the development of CCC financially. Members can only give what they have in accordance with what they earn (2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully).

Thus, we should expect that the projected amount expected to go to the various centres/projects will not be met this year.
2. Harvest: Most Parishes may drastically cut the spending on Adult harvests in line with the current economic situation in the country, as seen in some parishes whose harvest had gone home to roost for the year.

3. Uncontrollable Iniquities: The love of money will begin to eradicate the love of Christ, even amongst our leaders in the church. Members may be prone to fall to temptations when their throat depends on it. The last days that the scriptures forecasted is here as quoted by Apostle Paul in his book to Timothy ( 2 Timothy 3:1-7)

4. Dubious Prophesies: Some Prophets of the Church that actually use their God-giving spiritual gifts as a business platform may begin to extort members and the general public at every opportunity they perceive due to the fact that majority of the people of this world have shifted their faith from Christ to miracles and Men of God.

The Church Authorities would need to work on ways in making sure that some of these issues will not bedevil the Church.
