Calvary greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I welcome you all to the new episode of my sermon on Celestial Church Blog. The text for the sermon is Gen. 9 v 8- 17. The topic is "The Covenant, The Caution".
A COVENANT refers to a pact or binding agreement between two or more parties. CAUTION as used here means a careful attention to the probable effects of an act, in order that failure or harm may be avoided.
There are good number of covenants in the Bible. The covenant were mostly between God and individuals e.g. God and Abraham and God with nations e.g. God and Israel.
My dear reader, 'the caution' added to the topic is my major interest. There is a great lesson to learn from our creator pertaining to our attitude to covenant. Reading through verses 13 - 16 of the text and particularly verse 16. " And the bow shall be in the cloud; and i will look upon it, that I may remember the everlating covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth".
The great lesson to learn from God is that we should always remember the portion of our deal in any covenant and act accordingly. If our creator can set a bow in the cloud for the purpose of reminding Him of His covenant, then covenant is more than a mere utterances.
LESSONS TO LEARN
1. Always remember to fulfil your deal in a covenant.
2. Christians are forbidden from having covenant with the Devil and his agent.
3. Covenants are mostly everlating. Gen. 9v16.
4. Adherence to the deeds of the covenant is always rewarding.
5. The error of a party jeopardises the covenant plan.
6. Covenant is expected to be with the consent of the parties involved.
7. Conscience is a vital 'tool' for every covenant.
Please read the following: Gen. 9v15; Exo. 6v5; Gen. 9v16; Exo. 2v24; Lev. 26v42, 26v45; Lk 1v54; Isa. 63v 11; Eze. 16v60; Ps 105v 8; 1 Chro. 16v15.
Shalom.
