A good percentage of musicians all over the world begin their journey into the music world mostly due to stints they served in a Church choir. Through this, they learnt the rudiments of music and became masters of the art in the genre of music they have chosen for themselves.

The Choir of any Celestial Church of Christ parish or ministry have assisted to raise many musicians who have becomes stars in their own right. This feat is mostly achieved by the ruthlessness shown by Choir Masters or Music Directors during choir rehearsals in the pursuit of excellence from members of the choir they lead.

An example of this was narrated by a fast-rising musician-cum-actor, Mathew Olatanmiwa Alajogun, (a.k.a) Major Matt, in an interview with Nigerian Tribune.



While answering the question on which came first between music and acting, Matthew whose mother was a music director in a choir said:

"Music came first, because I started as a chorister in the church. My mum was a chorister in the Celestial Church and she taught me how to play the piano. Then, I always got the beating of my life for playing on the wrong key, but I picked up when I stared listening to different music."
