Rev Demola Somorin
In an interview on the occasion of his 75th birthday thanksgiving, Reverend Demola Somorin, who is the Shepherd of Festac Cathedral, has warned Celestians against the continued division in the church.

Somorin who spoke with The Guardian, lamented that the church has been divided along different factions.

“There are factions in Benin Republic, Ivory Coast and almost five factions in Nigeria alone. This has robbed the church of improvement and progress. This year, Celestial Church of Christ will be 70 years and there is nothing much to show for it because of the factions.

"Celestial Church has to change the foundation. We must be able to raise much funds, there should be total restructure. Thanks to God now, court has ordered that all Celestial should come together and we have inaugurated a constitution drafting committee to draft a central constitution that will guide all Celestial Church of Christ in the world.

"When they come together they can do a lot and with the current development, I believe they will definitely get there" the accountant said.

He cited the lack of development in the church as one of the areas through which division is not helping the church as other denominations have achieved more than the church due to the cooperation among them.

“While other churches not up to 30 years can boast of human development facilities like universities, schools, seminaries, hospitals and football teams, CCC has nothing to show for its 70 years of existence.

"Pentecostal churches like Winners Chapel, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mountain Of Fire and Deeper Life Ministry came after Celestial and there are many development due to oneness and cooperation among members and leaders" Somorin said.
