The revered pastoral seat of the church which has been continuously claimed by more than 8 Nigerian claimants is vacant and all those who call themselves the pastoral head of the church are doing so illegally, as ruled by Nigeria's Supreme Court.

This position was made known in a recent stakeholders’ conference of the church held in Lagos by the Celestial Church Unification and Renaissance Mission. The factions of Reverends Emmanuel Oshoffa, S.E Orovboni, J.K Owoduni, Pascal Togbe, J.B Adetunji, G Omoge, M.O Akinsoji and G.B Shonekan are aware and have in one time or the other met with the unification group.

In a publication by the Nation, the unification group stated emphatically that the church is yet to have a pastor, as those laying claim to the title are acting illegally, because the Nigeria's Supreme Court in the year 2000 ruled that the position of the Pastor is vacant until the church's constitution is amended.

The group which consists of 33-member CCC Nigeria Diocese Transitional Elders Council was established in 2003 and one of its major functions is to amend the church's constitution.

This bring to forth that for the church to be unified, all the claimants of the pastoral seat in Nigeria, must stop laying claim to it and allow peace to reign.
