Unity is strength when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved - Mattie Stepanek

Stories need not be told about what caused the creation of factions in our church, but what is certain is that the possibility of the major factions of our church in Nigeria, the Ketu faction, led by Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa and that of the Nigeria Diocese, led by Reverend Gabriel Omoge to unite under one umbrella anytime soon is equal to the desire of anyone attempting to make a camel pass through the eye of a needle.

Truth be told, there are those within both camps who do not want a united church for reasons best known to them, and they have become adamant, mostly by grandstanding and frustrating any notable peace initiative that may be put up in any form.

I personally feels that Christ will unite his Church at the appropriate time and no one can stop him. However, I am of the opinion that plans for a unified Church can be done possibly through backdoor channels, as both Reverend Oshoffa and Reverend Omoge can begin a subtle form of unification by setting up a committee that would work on a joint Bible Lesson Plan for the year 2019.

This committee should comprise of spirit filled men and women who are well vast in biblical and theological knowledge, and those who are grounded in the church doctrines. The basic term of reference of these celestians should be to come up with an excellent 2019 Bible Lesson Plan, devoid of unnecessary mistakes, that will be used by the parishes of these two major factions next year.

If this is achieved, the process of a unified church has been set in motion in a vivacious manner and other talks could be initiated if need be. This singular action would bind members together and ensure that both Rev Oshoffa and Rev Omoge are seen as having the interest of the church in their innermost heart. This idea can also be extended to other claimants of the pastoral seat, most notably Reverend Bennet Adeogun in Benin Republic.

As good as this idea may sound, a good number of naysayers would shoot down this idea, but I appeal to all meaningful Celestians who are deeply worried and pained about the division in the church to continue ringing this idea into the ears of our leaders, we just cannot continue in deepening the division in the fold.
