Like some members of other Christian denominations who have negative feelings regarding Celestial Church of Christ, Prophet Femi Owolabi once hated the Church, while he was still a member of a popular pentecostal church.

Prophet Femi Owolabi while responding to questions pertaining to Christianity on a radio programme, the Morning Digest with Jimi Disu on Lagos Talks 91.3fm, on Wednesday, April 3, condemned the symbolism approach most Christians have towards Christianity.

He stressed the need for Christians to read and digest the word of God appropriately, as it will make them understand the true meaning of Christianity, because the symbolism practice known to faithfuls of the African Traditional Religion have been brought into Christianity.

On how he joined Celestial Church of Christ, the prophet said, "I never knew I will be a prophet. One of the Church I hated most is Celestial Church of Christ. I never liked the Church.

When he was asked, the reason he hated Celestial Church, Owolabi replied that, "their behaviour caused it", because those members of the Church he knew do not behave well, not until he became a member and he got to know that there many more Celestians with good behaviours.

He said on a particular day, while it was raining heavily, "I heard the voice. 'Stand up, I want you to lead you somewhere.' I obeyed. I entered the rain." He said he was filled with the spirit of God, which him led to a parish where a message has been on ground that the parish should be ready to receive him.
