The desire of the church to own a university appears to become a reality soon as Reverend EMF Oshoffa revealed at the Adult Harvest and Thanksgiving Service of the National Headquarters of the Church in Makoko, Lagos.

Oshoffa told the congregation at the thanksgiving service that the Church’s pastors-in-council had met with the National University Commission in order to complete all needed documentation for the proposed university to be named Celestial International University.






He made it known that the development of knowledge though the ownership of a befitting university is an issue the church has sets its heart on, but revealed that the project is capital intensive and the church needs the contribution of members and non members alike to make the project a reality.

He disclosed that for the church to submit an application to the National University Commission, the sum of N24 million Is needed to do so. “So far, we have been able to raise N8.4 million; we still need about N17 million to enable the church to submit its forms as quickly as possible.


“To start a university in Nigeria needs several millions of naira. We are going to open an account for the project and we encourage our members to contribute to the success of the institution.” the Nation quoted.

Oshoffa promised that the fund raised will be properly utilized and accounted for. He said that: “We shall be issuing statements as the need arises and the name of donors made public. There will be meetings of parishes to commit them to the plans. Those to be part of the meetings will be chairmen, secretaries and treasurers of the parishes.”
