Reverend Paul Maforikan (Right)

The white flowing gown which is the signature apparel adorned by members of Celestial Church of Christ, is not the mere thought of anyone as described in a story regarding how the late Reverend Paul Maforikan met the founder of the Church, Reverend SBJ Oshoffa.

The story which was told in French by Lguy Nemer, described the late Maforikan as someone who lost touch with religion until his encounter with the late SBJ Oshoffa. Maforikan said he was born as a Muslim, who proceeded to join the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, but revealed that it “was difficult for me to integrate, I left and I found myself with the Protestants there either I did not feel comfortable to worship God, but the real one, burned strongly in me. A few days later a voice kept ringing in my ear asked me to go on a specific date to the beach at SÉMÈ, it was in 1948.”

At the beach he “met a group of people all in white dressed led by a tall man, it was the anointed of God Samuel Joseph Biléwu OSHOFFA who authorized us to join them saying that it is God himself who drove us to him.”

According to Nemer, Maforikan said as a tailor he and Oshoffa later had a discussion on sewing sutana only for the founder to place his bible on Maforikan‘s head, he (Maforikan) looked up to the sky and he began to see various designs and ranks of all the white apparel members of the church should wear. He proceeded to reveal what he saw to Oshoffa, who acknowledged that he was also shown the same message as Jehovah has promised to cloth members of the church. Afterwards, Maforikan began to make designs and sew various styles of garments has it was revealed to him.
