As organisations across the globe are putting out messages to those associated with them on the need to stop the spread of the corona virus, a simple message by one of the largest parish of Celestial Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State gave the church’s image the best boost on the internet among non celestians.

While many businesses, government MDAs and churches released long circulars and statements on actions they had taken to curtail the spread of the virus, Ibara Cathedral released a short statement on a banner which was tied onto the fence of the church.

The part of the 32 worded statement released by Ibara Cathedral which received commendation on social media was “PLEASE PRAY AT HOME.”

While reacting to the statement released by Ibara Cathedral, Twitter user, Ayo Bankole wrote: “It took a global pandemic to teach us that churches that we thought were traditional such as MFM & Celestial are surprisingly more logical, while the ultra messiahs in fancy suits & private jets like Oyedepo turned out selfish & illogical to put us at health risk. Kudos to CCC.”

Another Twitter user, a Nigerian University Lecturer based in the United Kingdom, Doctor Dipo Awojide posted, “This is what we want to see. This should go viral so others see and reflect. Well done CCC👏🏽”

Also Olufunmilayo Harvey a Nigerian Doctor based in the United Kingdom chided other churches for attempting to go on with their church services, when Celestial Church is observing the strict order of social distancing.

The image of the statement released by Ibara Cathedral got a lot of positive engagements on social media. It is important to note that CCC Olajuwon Tejusoho Parish also released a simple short statement too.
