As the question over the fate of the annual Juvenile Harvest for the year 2020 begs for answers over the current restrictions of religious activities as a way of combating the corona virus pandemic, authorities in Lagos and other states are considering the option of reopening of worship centres.

At a briefing after the State’s Security Council meeting, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, revealed the government’s plan in reopening worship centres. “We are reviewing and considering how the phased unlocking will happen. If we see huge level of compliance, then it can happen in the next two to three weeks,” Sanwo-Olu revealed.

The Governor noted that Lagos State Safety Commission and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency will visit worship centres to assess their level of preparedness before these centres are reopened, as their ability to fully observe social distancing and proper hygiene will be the determinant factors before they are allowed to open.

While states like Delta, Ebonyi, Kogi, Borno, amongst others have reopened worship centres, most states still have their religious centres under lockdown or partially lockdown. However, the address of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday will give more insight to the possibility of the Juvenile Harvest taking place on Sunday, June 7th, 2020
