Reverend Bennett Adeogun

In a bid to abide by government advisory on the reopening of Churches in Benin Republic, all parishes of Celestial Church have been mandated to begin and end all Sunday services without the processional and recessional hymn, Jerimoyahmah, respectively.

This was made known in a letter written to all the diocesan and circuit heads alongside shepherds by Reverend Bennett Ajose Adeogun, the leader of most francophone speaking parishes of the church.

In the letter, Reverend Adeogun said the decision was reached after extensive consultations with the health officials of the government and meetings with various diocesan and circuit heads of the church.

Some parts of the new regulations as published by Communaute Celeste state that:

1. Processional hymn (Jerimoyahmah) is temporarily suspended until further notice.

2. Services will begin straight inside the auditorium.

3. Service will end immediately after the grace by the shepherd with chanting of seven Halleluyah to the four corners of the earth, as there will be no singing of Jerimoyahmah as recessional hymn.

He said this new regulations will cut the time spent in the church and help protect members from the pandemic and warned that shepherds who fail to abide by regulations would be punished, alongside the circuit and diocesan heads.

Celestial Church Blog had also reported that Central Cathedral Parish Abuja in Nigeria had also suspended Jerimoyahmah during Sunday services in order to abide with the regulations of the NCDC.
