Spiritual works are meant to aid in quickening the answering of prayers, but it has often been used as a tool of extortion by some clergies, as observed from a discussion by Celestians on Facebook.

The discussion which has more than 200 comments, revealed that celestians are not comfortable with being excessively billed (charged) by some clergies for spiritual work.

This practice is enough to make the Church lose members as noticed in the response of Mobolaji Yewande. She mentioned that she may decide to go back to her former church if she has to be charged for spiritual work.

She wrote: “We don't even know d real method of this church. asking for money here and there. I just join CCC fully but I think I need to go back to my former church where I will use my mouth to pray and d God that ans will heard me without spending kobo. celestial prophet, and prophetess I hail thee ooo they are d real reason y pple don't want to join ccc, they are also d reason they are leaving.

Holy Spirit is considerate and knows one’s financial capacity, were the thought of Great Oghenegoma Otomiewo. “Nonsense, the Holy spirit will not give a work it knows you can't afford to pay. All these fake prophets everywhere.” Otomiewo wrote.

Another member, John Opeoluwa mentioned that “Na their way be that...charge and bail shepherds...they are wolves in sheep clothing...CCC really need thorough cleansing.”

However, Samson Onyedikachi Alozie was of the opinion that most clergies demand excessively for spiritual works because hey use the proceeds to take care of their families. “To be honest we should not judge. Most Shepherds use that to care for their family and they don’t believe some one could help them if things get better, he opined.

Rather than put the blame on the clergies engaging in such act, Akintomide advised members to stay in the parish and desist from going to other parishes for spiritual revelation.

He wrote: “Some of you are the main source of your problem, the poster of this post left his church (parish) and went to another church (parish) for spiritual revelation, has the spirit of the lord left your church (parish)? And for those that their shepherd told them to bring big money, wetin you still dey find go that kind church? Didn't you tell the shepherd that if you have that kind of money, you won’t be in that church... and what happened to your candle stick and prayers in the mercy land to pray against bad revelation and spiritual messages over your life.”
