Olarewaju, Oshoffa and Banjo

Unknown to most members of the Church, the 6 members of the Board of Trustees of the biggest faction of the Church, the Ketu faction has been involved in board room crises within themselves since the past 6 years. This became revealed when various allegations began to fly around within the past 2 weeks.

The membership of the Board comprises Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa, Most Superior Evangelist S.O Banjo, Superior Evangelist Rotimi Omotosho, Superior Evangelist Pius Olarewaju, Superior Evangelist Kayode Okaisabor and Superior Evangelist Bola Akinterinwa.

However, the BOT has been divided into two groups, the chairman, Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa and the other 5 members who have both accused each other of various wrongdoings. The following are the accusations and counter accusations thrown at each other:

1. Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa says the Board of Trustees had denied him all of his financial rights and privileged, claiming that he was fixed on salary. He made this known at the last meeting with Church workers in Imeko.

2. The 5 other members of the BOT refuted this claim, showing proof that Reverend Oshoffa approved that he should be placed on salary and at a time approved the increment in his salary. According to Superior Evangelist Pius Olarewaju, Reverend Oshoffa is paid N2,250,000 per month, as he along his wife fly on business class tickets paid for by the Church whenever they are traveling.

3. The chairman of the BOT, does not share in the views of other members of the Board. These 5 members believe that the pastor has been listening to lies and thus he is being misinformed. They believe the decisions reached at the BOT are being jettisoned as a result of the lies some cabals are feeding Pastor Emmanuel.

4. An unnamed member of the Church, (mis)informed the chairman of the board that the 5 members of the board are planning to abduct him, which the 5 members believe is an unacceptable allegation, as abduction is a criminal act.

5. Who does the money of the Church belongs to? According to the members of the board, the camp of the Reverend Oshoffa believes that the pastor owns and have all rights over the church fund, but they say the fund belongs to the members and not the pastor and all spendings must be accounted for. They maintained that before 2015, all the money realized by the church were mismanaged, thus the need for accountability.

6. The 5 BOT members believe that Pastor Emmanuel siblings are creating problems for the church. According to the secretary of the board, Professor Akinterinwa, Oshoffa’s Children do not understand the mandate of their father. He says, that they are creating unnecessary problems and the pastor has been misinformed by them, but advised Reverend Emmanuel to stop listening to them as he is been misguided, but the pastor did not heed to the advice.

7. Who is more powerful, the Pastor or the members of the Board of Trustees.

Section 108 of the Church’s constitution gives all power to the Pastor of the Church, but the other members of the BOT disagree, claiming the use of such section is meant only for the exclusive use of the pastor founder only because of his highly spiritual prowess and not just to anyone who can be manipulated. However, the newly amended Company and Allied Matters Act 2019, gives all the members of the BOT equal rights.
