Insecurity || Armed herdsmen take over Imeko forest, as Oba of Imeko cries out

Oba of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite 

The current security crisis bedeviling Nigeria has shown its ugly head in Imeko, Ogun State, the Worldwide headquarters of Celestial Church of Christ, says the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite.

The monarch disclosed this at the stakeholders meeting to solve the security crisis as it affects the south western part of Nigeria. At the meeting, held on Tuesday, 16th February, Oba Olanite complained that the forest reserve in Imeko has become the abode of armed criminals who are involved in crimes in Imeko and environs.

According to The Punch, “A lot of ammunition has been brought into Imeko. In Yewaland, we are living in fear. We can’t sleep with our two eyes closed. These people have bombarded Yewaland with machine guns,” the Oba revealed.

Speaking further, the monarch said, “There are lots of things happening in the Yewa axis. We have been living with some groups of Fulani in peace. 

“There is now a lot of infiltration of some people we don’t understand their language. They have been coming with a lot of ammunition. Recently, they slaughtered a man and when we called his phone number, the people who talked to us were Fulani. They said the owner of the phone had gone to Al-Qiyama (Heaven).”
