"I never wanted two wives in my life - SBJ Oshoffa"
In an old interview clip, Reverend Samuel Bilewu Oshoffa expatiated the reasons he had more than one wife. The founder of Celestial Church of Christ disclosed that he was already polygamous before God used him to become the founder of the Church.
The interview which was anchored by a female journalist was held possibly in the 70s based on the video quality and statement made by Oshoffa in the video.
Oshoffa explained that he had the desire to be a man with only one wife, even before he became a minister of God, as the founder of the Church. "I never wanted two wives in my life," Oshoffa revealed in the interview.
"I have a fiancee. That we agreed to marry each other. My father saw that I was the only one he had as a child. He went to bring a wife for me to marry. I sent her away. The fiancee I intended to marry, died 3 months later. I mourned her for 3 years."
The late Reverend mentioned that he later had another lady who he courted for 3 years and lived together (married) for 14 years without having any sexual intercourse with another woman.

"Within these 14 years, she never got pregnant... Within twenty years (three years of mourning his first fiancee and 17 years in a new relationship) I was without any child; I just wanted a child even if the Child will die later, so that it will be on record that I have a child, but it was no more, Oshoffa disclosed.
During this period, someone gave him a young virgin lady, which he reluctantly married, and she got him his first child, named Michael Mobiyina.
Oshoffa highlighted the need for each individual to understand what they want and what fate and circumstances have been written about them.
"I wanted to have only one wife, but fate didn't have it like that. What God has written for one is what will happen... Some who are with one wife are bless with children and every good thing of life," noting that some do not have it smooth for them. He further noted that some of those who are polygamous cannot be blamed as it may be God's plan for such persons.

I have read and watch the video and all what I can say is that there are questions the interviewer should have asked SBJ for him to give more clarification. This is the reason most clergies in the church have more than one wife.
