The criticism of Celestial Church of Christ by some members of other denominations is common and on the eve of the Church 71st anniversary another wave of criticisms came up on a riotous and comical savagery Facebook group, Rant HQ.

A member of the group posted this image with the caption - "Why are most Nigerian guys scared of Cele girls including me?"

Later on members of the group began to comment and it was a total massacre at first, as non members gave negative views regarding the Church, due to personal experience, third party narration of events and ignorance.

Most of the comments were centred on atrocities done by a few members of the Church or members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement. It is common knowledge that most non white garment Church members do not know the difference between the two most popular white garment Churches.

Sadly, these criticisms were based on perceived devilish nature of members of the Church, as it is believed that members engage in voodoo practices in other to destroy those competing against them. They claim members of the Church destroy marriages, relationships, businesses of their enemies and are sexually explicit. Among every 12, there is a Judas and this is what is at play here. Members of other denominations also have their own Judas.

In the midst of the discussion, Celestians began to respond, with some defended the Church in the most awkward manner, which would have validated the beliefs of non members that surely we are less than a Christian fold.

These members were threatening and abusing those criticising the Church. Shamefully, some of them made use of swear and abusive words while attempting to reply those calling our Church names. Also, beyond social media, a good number of us are so mean in defending the Church. We are brutal and fanatical, as we do throw cautions to the wind. This attitude is un-christian like.

But thanks to some members of the Church, like Abba Igho Tanwa, Michael Folorunsho and many others who stood tall and showed love, humility and courteously explain what the church is all about in the midst of the tension. They defended the Church as perfect christians.

However, in defending this great Church, our behaviour as christians should speak for us, as stated in Galatians 5: 22-23. Those who have negative perceptions about the Church, have witnessed some of us acting uncharitable and contrary to the character and spirit of christians through actions we display and in our schools, communities, place of work and social media. Our behaviours be it good or bad is the totality of the perceptions non members will use in drawing up conclusions about the Church.
