The reading of the first Bible lesson by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has been creating a lot of controversies on cele social media sphere. These type of controversies have never been witnessed in the church after any Christmas Convocation.

We have carefully studied the discussions on cele social media sphere and have identified 6 major things members of the church must learn from the whole matter.

1. Most of us are far away from being Christians

Most comments on social media regarding this issue are derogatory. The use of curses were freely used by members arguing for or against the issue. It is a pity Celestians do not know how to argue out issues without the use of denigatory statements.

In plain terms, as christians we must not curse and should never use swear words. Most of us have acted far from being Christians.

2. Members who question the decisions of our leaders are not rebels.

Decisions made by our leaders will never go well with everyone. Therefore, members with contrary opinions should not be seen as rebels. These people are already been labelled enemies of the church. Some call them illegitimate members of the church, while other call them bastards.

Also shepherds who are loyal to Ketu have questioned the decision of the church on this issue in private places, but they dear not speak because of the backlash they will receive from the leadership of the church.

There is surely a danger in this, as we must not make our leaders despots. However, those who question the decisions made by our leaders must do so with deep sense of respect.

3. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

We carefully noticed that a section of Celestians are not unhappy with the reading of the Bible passage by the Ooni of Ife, but they query the non acceptance of mufti and stockings worn by members as demeaning to members, while accepting those worn by members from the Ooni's entourage. This is one area members are bitter about.

4. Will Ketu's action not serve as a precedence?

Since Ketu has allowed the Ooni to read a Bible lesson, shepherds may follow in this footstep and invited non members to mount their pulpits. No one will be able to caution these shepherds, because Ketu have laid a precedence that will now be difficult to stop.

5. High level of hypocrisy

During the year, we saw many parishes allowing those with mufti, mostly pastors and traditional rulers to come near their altars. Most notably is the Genesis Global Ministries, led by Prophet Dele Ogundipe.

Most of those who condemned and ask the church to discipline Prophet Dele are the ones defending Ketu's action in respect of the Ooni. This is a pure case of hypocrisy.

6. Who is the custodian of the church's doctrine?

The doctrines of the church are so dear to the conservatives of the church and they see themselves as the custodians and protectors of the church's doctrines.

However, these members must know that the Pastor of the faction they support (in this case, Rev EMF Oshoffa) is the custodian of church's doctrine and the constitution of the church gives him the power to tweak or change the doctrines has it deems fit.
