Minutes after the service of the Christmas Convocation ended at Imeko in Ogun State, the reading of the first Bible lesson, Isaiah 42:1-9 in English by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, became a controversial issue.
The issue seems more controversial because, members who had never criticised any of Ketu's actions, publicly disagreed with the Church, not because the Ooni was present for the christmas convocation service, but for giving him the privilege of reading a Bible lesson.
However, it seems the church already had a feeling that a good number of Celestians will not be happy with the action, thus making the secretary of the church, Baba S.O Banjo to explain during the announcement the reason its allowed the Ooni to read the biblical lesson.
During the announcement, Baba Banjo announced that the Ooni is one of the most respected and highly ranked traditional ruler in Yoruba land and since he has decided to worship in the church for the convocation service, it is the duty of the church to honour him by giving him the privilege of reading the first Bible lesson.

Thanks, nice write up
ReplyDeleteI think I support the opinion of the Ketu to Honour the Ooni.
What else can we say, they are the one at the helms of affairs and have the right to do so. God bless His Church
ReplyDeleteU can honour him in another way not by giving him lesson to read
ReplyDeleteWe need to follow the Constitution
Halleluyah, I saw the first post on this issue and refused to comment after reading a lot of comments from people. I know that the authority of Ketu meant to honor him as what the scripture says but at the same time I believe that he can be honored in another way. Looking at it in this angle, it is more or less like reading this lesson with mufti not even a garment. In the nearest future, if a spoke person for the President happens to honor the invitation like this just as Ooni did, which means he can as well be honored to read the same lesson. Celestial, let's be spiritual. May God of Almighty give us his spirit to know him more and do his will in Jesus name.
