The producer of the controversial movie, Juba, Funmi Ade Bank-Anthony will currently be counting her lucky stars as the leadership of Celestial Church have refused to heed to calls by faithfuls to sued her in respect of the way the church was depicted in the movie.

In a press statement released by the church’s public relations officer, SVMSE Kayode Ajala, the church made it clear it not suing the Bank-Anthony because a church of God is supposed to find solutions to issues without heading to court.

“It is true that as a church of God, we are slow to tow the path of seeking redress in a court of law but even at that, we cannot continue to fold our arms while the image of our church is continuously battered by others,” Ajala wrote.

In the statement, the PRO said the church has taking various steps aimed at addressing the issue, one of which is the demand of an apology from the embattled producer which is to be published in at least two national newspapers.
Other steps taken by the church as revealed in the statement include the appearance of the shepherd of the parish where the movie was shot before a disciplinary panel and letters have been written to the Director General of the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board and to the leadership of all associations governing the production and marketing of local movies, to register the church’s displeasure over the movie.
