As various governments across the globe are deeply engrossed in defeating the novel corona virus which has kept nations on lockdown, they are also battling the refusal of citizens in obeying various orders which are meant to curtail the spread of the virus.
Orders like stay at home, non congregation at places of worship and other public places appear difficult for citizens to comply with. This is why authorities in both Abuja in Nigeria and Hillsborough, United Kingdom had had two pastors arrested.

While enforcing the arrest of Pastor U Uden, the General Overseer of the Jesus Reign Family in Apo area of Abuja, the Chairman of the Task Force in the enforcements of orders made by the government in resisting large gathering, Attah Ikharo maintained that prayers can be offered at home. He stressed that Pastor Uden’s decision to gather his congregation together while the government is fighting hard to defeat the virus is a contravention and a breach of the rule. Attah, revealed that the Abuja based pastor was arrested, then cautioned and released on bail, stating that Pastor Uden assured him that he will never to do such again.

The Country Sheriff of Hillsborough, United Kingdom, Chad Chronister had also arrested Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne. The arrest came after someone anonymously contacted the police that Pastor Howard-Browne had continually held services with large numbers of people in attendance.

In a tweet, Chronister said Pastor Howard-Browne had “intentionally and repeatedly disregarded state and local public health orders, which put his congregation and our community in danger.”
