Ways to hear from God

God speaks, God communicates, He and man from the very beginning. The height of God's creation is man. He had loved man right before creation. He has set man in a place where he can have a personal relationship with him called Earth. Hearing from God helps every individual Christian with a blueprint of what's ahead or at stake with the help of the holy spirit. These are five ways we can hear from God.

STUDYING SCRIPTURES: Psalms  119:105 says "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The Bible is called God's 'Word' as documented by inspired men. His words written are his will and life. His words give answers to every life growing and threatening question. His will is made known to us. For instance, when we read through Psalms 23 we get to know God's will for us is to uphold us even in the deepest of situations. His words correlate, giving the right direction to Christians.

PRAYERS & FASTING: Jesus prayed, the Apostles prayed, Abraham prayed, Moses did likewise and they heard from God. Prayer is a means to communicate with God from our needs even to offering thanks to Him. The bible makes a record of how the Lord reached out to Elijah when he was in trouble with Jezebel after he prayed. There is a popular saying that 'prayer is the master key'. Fasting can be likened to abstinence. We abstain from food in a form of consecration to access God. Jesus modelled and taught on the subject as a good shepherd.

DREAM & VISION: No one will dispute that God reached out to his people in dreams and vision. Joseph got a direction for his life through his dreams and interpretations for others. Samuel heard from God through a vision in the house of Eli, same with Solomon. Proverbs 29:18a says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Vision is the ability to see. Vision opens us to the future and the mind of God.

PROPHECY: 2 Peter 1:21 says "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Prophecy is the knowledge of the future obtained from divine sources. Having read in scriptures how God used different men, at different times and different locations to lead the Israelites across many dispensations. These days men are hearing from God through prophecies.

DIRECT COMMUNICATION: God chooses to speak to men intimately but not every man hears him. Job said, "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not." God spoke to Moses directly about the laws that would guide and provide help for the Israel nation. He led Abraham by his words to the fulfilment of his promises. The difference-maker is that they could hear him. He speaks to us with his voice or by a still inner witness on our inside.

Men have heard from God, they have been directed by his will and purpose across time. He is still doing the same. He is ever ready to open up to us if we come to him. Anyone would agree that hearing from God is not hard to achieve but require a price. The price of engaging and forming a relationship with him.
