Godwin B Shonekan
Reverend Godwin Shonekan who is one of the claimant to the Pastoral seat in the Church, has declared that contrary to opinion to paint him as someone bad, he is a good man who would not let God Almighty, himself and Celestians down.

Shonekan also spoke about his legal battle with the Defunct Board of Trustees of the Church and the alleged attempt to make him look as someone challenging the authority of the Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa.

The United State based Clergy said this in a statement, titled Wake Up Celestians, which was posted on his Facebook post. In the statement, he appealed to Celestians to put on their thinking cap as he explains his side of how leadership crisis started in the Church.

"It is simple, all they wanted you to know is that Shonekan is bad and challenging the son of Papa Osofa, false. I had nothing against Alagba Emmanuel Osofa and any of Papa’s children.

"At one time in Papa Osofa’s life, some elders wanted to hijack the church from him and take control (this is for those who had been in the Church long enough to know or those that are inquisitive enough to know more about the Church), that failed because they were led by Satan."

Shonekan likened himself to Jonah, who was sent on an errand by God, but declared that he is more smarter than Jonah, as he learnt from Jonah's mistake.

"What you may not know about me is that, I was not so keen about becoming the Pastor of Celestial Church of Christ so as Jonah did not adhere to the call of God, but my Smart self learned from history and borrow a page from Jonah, I succumbed before some passengers would be forced to throw me off a plane bound for Nigeria in midair without parachute, so here I am."

On the Unification group in the Church, Shonekan said "they have other motives to impose a leader of their own for personal aggrandizement or else."
