The debate on the propriety of allowing comedians to perform during Church programmes will never cease to end anytime soon, as Mike Bamiloye, the founder of Mount Zion Film Ministries and a Popular Christian Comedian Enenche Enenche engage in a debate over the issue.

In a statement released by the Agbara Nla actor, Bamiloye claimed that is was wrong for clergies and pastors to invite comedians to perform during Church events because they end up mocking God, Jesus, the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit.

However, Enenche was of the opinion that inviting comedians to Church to crack jokes in order to make people laugh isn't a bad idea.

Mike Bamiloye made his position known against the backdrop of the comedy made at the Music Concert, Experience 11. In which a comedian used a scripture in the Old Testament as the foundation for his jokes!

Bamiloye said Christians should imbibe the culture of other religions where they protect the image of their Leaders.

“We hear of other religions where they are obsessed with protecting the image of their Leader and we gleefully allow people to mock our Leader Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and thereby indirectly mocking God!!! They look at us with disdain because we are bad ambassadors of our faith!

“Yet if you mock or despise holy things, you can still come under God’s judgment. They joke about the blood of Jesus, the name of Jesus, choruses etc. When they are in trouble and need the blood or the Name, how can it work for them?” Bamiloye queried.

In his defence of allowing comedians to perform in the Church, Enenche acknowledged that the comedey made in Experience 11 wasn't right, but it is not all comedians that are worldly.

“I know of countless firebrand tongue speaking comedians, the Holy Spirit with them in their check. Like me for example; there are certain words or jokes that can’t fall off my mouth, either by mistake or in the dream."

The popular comedian said like comedians, pastors and prophets are prone to make mistakes while ministering.

“To be sincere, comedy like every other profession has human errors, limitations and deficiencies.

“The fact that we have questionable prophets, does not mean that the office of the prophet should be scrapped.

“The fact that we have pastors messing up on the altars, doesn’t mean that all pastors should not go to church again."

Enenche said ministrations like drama and comdey are related as both tell stories.

“I think that drama is not marketing in churches again, so Bro Mike is trying to shift attention to his merchandise. Like drama and comedy, both tell story, both have message.

“Bro Mike should have emphasized on the sources and types of storylines comedy is out to bring, instead of outright cutting off of comedians.

“The truth is that, if the church can’t step up her game to grow the spirit man of the comedians around church, instead build walls around altars against them, the world is eagerly waiting to construct bridge for them from church to hell.

“I saw this coming, that’s while I told the world that I am not a gospel comedian, we don’t have secular bankers and gospel bankers, secular soldiers and gospel soldiers… I am a Christian and a comedian. Holy spirit is my gauge." he said.
