The ideology behind the identification of Celestial Church of Christ as a religion has been faulted as a means of attempting to detach Celestians from the body of Christ.

This was asserted by Victor Akpojotor in an article titled CCC is not a religion. In the article, he explained why members of the Church should not subscribe to the ideology.

He was of the opinion the Church isn't included among the religions in the world.

"There are only 11 religions in the world, and Celestial Church is not one. Celestial Church of Christ is a name of Church, not a name of religion.

"CCC is one of the numerous churches God sent to the world. We should not detach ourselves from the body of Christ." Akpojotor warned.

He appealed to members of the fold on the need to seek salvation, as it is what makes Christians special, as God doesn't have a favourite among all Churches.

"Every true Church is unique in the presence of God. God doesn't have favorite all true Churches and worshippers are his favourites.

"He is not a respecter of anybody. He is just to all. Whether you are CCC member or not doesn't make you special in God's presence. What makes you special is your salvation.

"Whether you are a CCC member or not, if you are not saved, eternal life is not sure" he cautioned.

Akpojotor proceeded to ask the proponents of the idea which religion they do mention when requested to fill which religion they profess in an application form.

"If I may ask, I believe you must have filled a form before, where you will be asked which religion you are, which one do you always choose? Knowing fully well that celestial is not there." Akpojotor asked.
