As various groups in the Church begin the planning for the 70th anniversary of the Church, news has it that a group has proceeded to a textile mill and have gone to mill an african material, popularly called Ankara, as a souvenir to make keep the memory of the anniversary live for long in the memories of members.

But this ideas seems not to go well with some faithfuls of the Church, who complained that the idea isn't godly.

Tayo Joseph Wolima who opposed the concept behind the souvenir was of the opinion that:

"Ankara for the 70 years anniversary gets me worried anytime I think about it. When are we going to get Spiritual about whatever we do in the Celestial fold.

"There has been complaints about how ANKARA and the aso ebi syndrome has bastardized our harvests. I will not be surprised to see more people in the Ankara instead of Sutana at Imeko on the D day.

"Asan lohun aiye, ati awon ohun ekun re. I sincerely believe it is not necessary."

However, someone like Solie Victor Adekunle is of the opinion that members of the Church who oppose the idea behind the production of the ankara should be less fanatical about it.

"There is nothing wrong to celebrate and mark it with the cloth, we don't need to be fanatic at times.

"It is not just an or any Ankara but a customized one for the occasion. After the program, one can wear it out anytime and anywhere. We should be able to have sensible and right criticism and not just to follow other people's write up" Adekunle wrote.

However, those who support the idea of the Ankara has released a picture taken during the Silver Jubilee of the Church in 1972. The picture showed faithfuls putting on Ankara to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
