Bro Enigbokan Omosehin, looks at some of the reasons conflicts had replaced peace in Celestial Church of Christ and in other Christian denominations.

Most "Christians" don't study the Bible.

This has caused the lack of the knowledge of the fundamentals of Christianity. If people understand concepts like humility, cooperation, unity, contentment etc as discussed in the holy books, then peaceful co-existence will be more popular. 1 Pet. 1:23; Isa. 40:8.

Most Christians lack the ability to practise what the Bible says.

Having the knowledge of the fundamental concepts that enhances peace is one thing and the grace and capacity to apply them is another. No wonder the Bible emphasied that we should be the hearers and doers of the word. James 1:22

Failure to encourage and tolerate one another.

Tolerance is a major factor for the 'bond of peace'. The principle of tolerance works when you make your character known to any members of the group you are in. Also you should make every effort to understand the character of each member of the group and simply relate with each member in accordance to their character or temperament. As responsible individuals, we should not think of hiding our ugly characters, rather we should make much effort at doing away with them.

Lack of Love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not also rude. Brethren, if we understand and apply the concept of love and we sincerely love one another then, 'bond of peace' becomes a natural and long lasting experience. The above premise is both biblical and logical (Philosophy). It is sure when we sincerely adhere to it.

Egocentric.

This refers to thinking only of oneself, without regard for the feelings or desires of others, being self -centred. The moment members of a Christian group confirms this, regardless of the person exhibiting it, the peace of the group is threatened.

Greediness.

Excessively or inordinately desirous of wealth, profit, food etc. When members of a group ( especially the leaders) are greedy, the 'bond of peace' will have issues. When resources that belongs to all are not evenly distributed, chaos or disagreement is inevitable.

Abuse of Office/Authority.

Leadership is a great factor of ' bond of peace'. Christian leaders must not be too weak to implement policies and must not be dictators. Where leaders fails to strike the balance, peace grow wings and zoom off.
