In the days of Reverend SBJ Oshoffa various forms of spiritual works were practice, but there were some Oshoffa did not approve of them because he sees them as a deviation from basic form of praying to God.

In a booklet titled, the “Explanation on the Doctrines of Celestial Church of Christ” which was authored by Oshoffa, it was revealed that the founder of the Church, disapproved and stopped the practice of going into the wilderness for victory prayers, popularly known as ‘ise isegun.’

Reverend Sylvanus Akintope Paul Tiwo who posted a snippet of the booklet on Facebook, quoted Oshoffa as saying, “about bath, going into the bush, going into the, ‘wilderness’ for victory prayers, this must stop. A member of the Celestial Church can take water in a pitcher (basin) either that of the Mercyland, stream, lagoon or the sea for bath.

“These are the water that a member of the Celestial Church uses for bath according to the injunction that I have given to you but to break a pitcher after prayer, this isn’t allowed. I must not see this in the Celestial Church of Christ. This is deviation. All of these must stop completely. May the Lord uplift His Church”
