Revival during Sunday service
Members of Celestial Church

The introduction of revival during Sunday services in Celestial Church is an attempt to make the Church have a semblance of pentecostal as it is a foreign practice says the antagonists of the practice.

In a discussion on Celestial Sphere, 3 members Gbenga Akinsunmola, Akingbule Toyin and Chris Ogbaisi condemned revival during services in the Church.

"It is unfortunate that our Shepherds are now emulating pastors of pentecostal churches, this does not favour Celestial Churches at all," says Akingbule Toyin.

Another member Gbenga Olakunle Akinsunmola, disputed that there are over 14 prayer sessions during the Sunday service and adding revival to it, is an attempt to copy the ways of others.

"It is no dynamism but a flagrant transgression of a rightly given order and an attempt to copy the ways of others so that people will say won gba adura ni church yen (they don't pray in that Church). But mind you every Sunday service we have over 14 prayer sessions in our service.

"My question is this, since we have been doing this revivals, how many dead have we raised? How many lame have walked? Let not deceive ourselves, we are just copying others, Akinsunmola reasoned.

Also, Chris Ogbaisi opined that Celestians do not need to struggle or shout at God before feeling the impact of prayer. He wrote "The secret of Celestial Church of Christ is the worship. During sermon, it's a period set aside to win souls for the kingdom and also drive the minds through spiritual content which sermon epitomised. Revival during sermon is like deviating and it's part of what brings disorderliness to our mode of worship.

"Celestians needs not to struggle or shout at God before feeling the impact of their prayer. We have silent prayer session , there is congregational prayer and we have the session of "Akanse ise" via prophecy. Why not go back to this mode of worship to foster orderliness in the Church.

"We spend little time to worship God and create unlimited time for irrelevance all in the name of 'emi lo dari'. It should not continue in this trend.
