Bond of Peace meaning and sermon

To God be the honour, glory and adoration for His faithfulness. I welcome you to another episode of my sermon on Celestial Church Blog. The grace of Jehovah will always be sufficient for us. The text for the week is Eph. 4:1-9. The topic is "The Bond of Peace" Eph. 4:3.

Bond in this context refers to a close connection joining two or more people. The bond(s) of friendship/love. Peace is a lack of conflict and freedom from fear of violence beteween heterogeneous social groups. A state of tranquility or quiet. Col. 3:15; 1 Pet. 5:7; Phi. 4:7; Heb. 12:14.

Peace is a great pillar of the Church (Christianity). The teachings of Jesus Christ as transfered to his disciples and documented in the holy book (Bible) for our use emphasied pease. The principles and standard of peace in the Church should be what the world (gentiles) will emulate and solve issues of violence in the world. But unfortunately there is little or no difference between the Church and the world in terms of violence and conflict.

Ideally, the Chuch by now should have raised good number of Christians that would function as ambassadors of peace to the world. Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Ephesians admonished them to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. Lack of peace is a major area Christians have disappointed Jesus Christ, the head of the Church.

Brethren, below are some of the reasons conflict and violence had replace peace in the Church.
1. Most "Christians" don't study the Bible. Hence, they lack the knowledge of the fundamentals of Christianity.
2. Most of those that study the Bible lack the ability to practise it.
3. Failure to encourage and tolerate one another.
4. Lack of Love
5. Ego
6. Greediness
7. Abuse of office/authority
Eph. 4:2; Gal. 19-22.

Shalom!
