Here are eight activities to expect on or during the juvenile harvest celebration in Celestial Church.
MEMORY VERSE RECITATION: Every church thrives on the understanding of scriptures; Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Celestial kids are not left out when it comes to committing the scripture to memory for the harvest because there are gifts and goodies at stake. Be sure to get up from your seats when you see children between ages two to five years reciting biblical passages with some reciting the whole of Psalms 51. Parents get to drill and encourage their wards to get those words into their heads.

BIBLE QUIZ: Growing up in Celestial Church, the children's department had made me look forward to bible quizzes. Also, I remember that my first attempt at a Bible quiz was during the juvenile harvest week in my parish. I went on to take the first position. Bible quizzes help to build a child's knowledge of the Word of God. In times of harvest when prizes are up for a grab, there is a good competition.
CHOREOGRAPHY PRESENTATION: Every parish in our church would embrace dancing as a form of praise because of the aura of joy in every service especially Sundays joined with the mesmerizing influences of the string instruments and drums including the talking drum. The kids get a song, dress code, and new dance steps every year for their choreography presentation(s). The dance steps are always interesting to watch thanks to months of rehearsals.
BEAUTY PAGEANT: Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder they say, and everyone wishes to look good. Some churches have an event to crown one or two of their kids as the most beautiful of the year or thereabout. However, every Christian standard must be adhered to during the beauty pageant.
GAMES: One of the funniest games I have seen is where a child is crowned as winner for being the fastest eater. In truth, games help relax our minds and give the younger kids something to laugh all about and reminisce on days after the harvest. Note, winners, do have a gift to take. These can be added to a party funfair.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES: Parishes that make their juvenile harvest a week-long celebration might involve different sporting activities, similar to inter-house sports competitions. The children are grouped into groups (house), with adults serving as groups leaders and patrons. Events such as simple tracks and field events are competed in, such as athletics, sack race, filling the bottle, egg and spoon race, football, high jump, amongst others. However, this may not be feasible for some other parishes, as these activities are mostly for parishes with large spaces.
EXCURSION: Places of interest in provinces and states of a parish can be visited by children weeks or days before the juvenile harvest.

With creativity, the juvenile harvest committee can device more range of activities during the juvenile harvest. You wouldn't want to miss the first Sunday in June or for some parishes the first week preceding the first Sunday. A very important point to note is that the harvest Sunday service is also anchored by the kids and these activities bring to light where every child fits. Be sure not to miss this harvest around you because of the mood of happiness surrounding this season in the church.
