A banner of a students’ parish

The birth of students’ parishes or fellowships in tertiary institutions have not helped to improve the brand of the church within the tertiary institutions they are situated. This was revealed by Seun Elijah in an article titled, “Top issues in CCC: How we drag CCC internationally.”

In the article Elijah listed multiple reasons why the church is mostly dominated by West African of the yoruba and egun tribes and seen as a cult group by non members of the church. He argued that a well established students’ parish will help to eradicate the negative perceptions against the church.

He frowned at the use of Yoruba language rather than English language in conducting services in students’ parishes. “Imagine student parishes in nigeria conducting yoruba services weekly! Student parishes could be the most successful set of parishes if they do what is right. First is the adoption of all English-speaking parish, also House to House evangelism and Cell meetings. There are many of their friends in school and environs who could join them as Celestians.” Elijah advised.

Furthermore, he disagreed with the notion by some members of the church that the angels of the church do not understand English. He described such belief as an insult to the unity of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit.

According to him, “Imagine the belief of some CCC members and elders that CCC angels do not understand english and spirit cannot bestow well during renditions of english music and ordering of services. Is that not blasphemy against the trinity?”
