Insurance Scheme for Celestial Church Workers, Shepherds
Celestial Church Shepherds in a meeting

The faction of Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa has arranged an insurance scheme for Church workers under its faction, says the Public Relations Officer of the Welfare Committee of the faction, Senior Evangelist Oludare Olujimi Abolurin of CCC Sharon Parish, Ikorodu, Lagos.

In an interview with Celestial Glory, Abolurin mentioned how the idea was birthed and approved by the leadership of Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa.

"I mooted the idea in my Parish; CCC Sharon Parish, Ikorodu and we insured the workforce. Fortunately, our Evangelist in charge; Snr Evang. Sofowora was appointed a member of the Pastor in Council and by extension, the vice-chairman to the Welfare Committee. Because both of us had been worrying about the welfare of Clergies, he then asked that we take advantage of the situation by replicating the insurance Scheme at the highest level of CCC."

While explaining how the scheme would work, Abolurin disclosed that for a start every Church worker is to pay ₦24,000 for a year or in two installments of ₦12,000 each, into the account of the welfare committee while in subsequent years, they can pay monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly. He mentioned that the scheme has a premium of ₦2,000 monthly.

He explained that the reason the premium is to be paid into the committee's account rather than the account of the Insurance firm is that the scheme "is a group scheme and not a personal one, hence the companies will only deal with the group to: collate subscribers, remit payment, monitor and demand for payment of benefits anytime the need arises. Payment of benefits will be done strictly through cheque(s) written in the name(s) agreed by the insured clergy on his/her registration form."

While he was asked how families of deceased shepherds will receive the entitlement due to them, he replied that "Their bit is just to inform the Clergy's Welfare Committee about his/her death, present the death certificate. We may have to verify and then contact the insurance companies for payment of benefits and we have been assured that it won't be more than 10 days from the day we make a demand."

The welfare team comprises of 5 members Ven. Sup. Evang. J. Olabode as chairman, A/V/S/E Udoffia as secretary, Snr. Evang. S.O. Sofowora as treasurer and Snr. Evang. O.O. Abolurin as Public Relations Officer (PRO). While father, Ven. Sup. Olajide, being the secretary of the Shepherds' Council, is the Ex-officio.
