Jakande Parish 1 in Lagos Shepherd beaten by thugs in Lagos
Prophet Adewunmi Awotidoye

While members of the Church are still condemning the beating of Superior Evangelist Emmanuel Akaba, the Shepherd of the Students' Parish at Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun State, another clergy of the Church has been beaten and attacked with gun and machetes.

Punch Metro reports that on Tuesday during a morning service, several thugs numbering about 6 invaded Jakande 1 parish in Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos and went forward to attack the woli-leader (leader of prophets, Adewunmi Awotidoye who is currently the acting shepherd of the Church.

It was disclosed that Awotidoye became the acting shepherd of the parish after the Parochial Committee of the parish placed Superior Evangelist Elijah Ogunbemi the erstwhile shepherd on suspended over actions they termed as gross misconduct, but Ogunbemi has refused to leave the parish.

It was revealed that the thugs came in and demanded to see Awotidoye and on introducing himself to the thugs, they grabbed him and descended on him with what they held, including cutting him with machetes.

However, members of the Church have accused the erstwhile shepherd, Ogunbemi of being behind the attack. But he has denied the accusation. He was quoted by Punch Metro as saying, "That is a wrong allegation; I didn’t do that and I have never done that and I will never do it. I don’t know who brought the thugs; we were at the police station today and they promised to carry out an investigation into the matter. I don’t have an issue with them.
